Where To Begin???

What do esquinklas, fiestas, a juvenile detention center, La Busqueda UAQ, Chihuahuas, science, Lebanese tacos, community outreach, backflips, Bible studies, bacon wrapped hotdogs, and modeling have in common? All were part of the past two weeks for us here in Queretaro, Mexico! We have been keeping busy and with less time spent in the classroom we've been able to spend more time on campus and in the community which has made life interesting!

One of our teachers at OLE, Sandra, and her husband Ruben recently completed the adoption process and we helped them welcome their esquinkla (little girl) Paula Rosa to their family. We attended a party for her at their home and presented them with a Mother and Daughter children's Bible.

Saturday we accompanied our friend Joel and several others to a school/detention center for teens where we played soccer, volleyball and talked with the them for awhile. Abby connected with 4 girls and she plans to return to teach them some gymnastics and lead them in a Bible Study. Mark was a stand out goalie but was disappointed that the guys there didn't think he was Mexican.

Two weeks ago we held our first on campus La Busqueda meeting along with our friend Ramses and have been able to use this group to share with other students about having a personal relationship with God. This was a big step and we are excited about how God might use this group.

Abby has always been a "cat lover" but she is really coming around to the good side, she has really taken to our friend's Chihuahua and is even considering owning one herself. Besides the Chihauhuas she has been taking a gymnastics class at the UAQ and impressing everyone with her skilz. She is teaching science to Mary and Audrey, two of the Young's daughters...we've learned a lot about clouds and tornadoes. . .

Mark has found a new love to go along with street tacos..."Hotdogs de Don Tono". These bacon wrapped dogs are amazing! We also found an Arab taco restaurant run by a Lebanese Christian, the tacos arabes have become a new favorite as well. Last week we helped out some students who needed "foreigners" for a school project. Along with our friend Adam we modeled for the advertisement they were making.

One of the really cool opportunities we had was to prepare goody bags for the children who work all day and night selling candy and other trinkets in the downtown plazas. We were able to show them love and share the message of salvation with them and their mothers.

We continue to attend Bible study where Mark leads music and occasionally the study too, go on campus to meet students and share with them, host an English/Spanish conversation night and disciple several individuals. We are enjoying our time in Mexico and are continually praying that God will use us to reach the lost with His message of love and forgiveness through faith in Jesus Christ. We thank you for being interested in what we are doing here and ask that you join us in praying for the university students of Mexico.
