Our Mexican Easter

We are so appreciative of all of you who check out our blog and are keeping up with us. You've probably noticed that we aren't real frequent bloggers...so although it was more than a week ago, here are some pictures of our Easter. Like in the U.S. it is a highly celebrated time here though it seemed that much more emphasis was placed on the death of Christ rather than the resurrection. On Good Friday there is a procession of silence through the streets of the city with many people dressed in hooded robes(to remain anonymous)carrying crosses and dragging a chain from one ankle. They also carry statues of Christ representing His trial, beating, crucifixion, and burial. The procession also includes statues of the disciples, Mary and Mary as the "Queen Mother". It was very interesting. On this day they also act out Jesus' trial, and attend 7 different churches to symbolize the seven locations/stages of His trial.

Sunday we were invited along with the Youngs to travel 45mins to San Miguel de Allende to have Easter lunch with another IMB family, the Bests...between the Youngs and the Bests we Huffmans felt a little out named! It was a great time of being around some awesome people, celebrating our Lord's resurrection and of course eating a lot of great food!
