FPO you might ask, ILC? Welcome to the land of acronyms. You’ll read quite a few of them if you keep up with this blog and as we learn them we’ll pass them on to you. FPO stands for Field Personnel Orientation which Abby and I are going to be at until December 18th. This is taking place at the IMB’s (International Mission Board…another acronym) International Learning center near Richmond, VA. We arrived here in the afternoon and spent the majority of our time the first day setting up what will be our home for the next 2 months. We are on a beautiful campus in the country and have our own bedroom, bathroom, laundry, small kitchen and eating area and share a common living room with three other families. I’m very excited about the cafeteria which serves up three free meals per day. There is also a library, computer lab and fitness center along with classrooms, auditoriums and offices on the ILC campus. Although the first day or two are pretty low key we have already been given several notebooks full of information, multiple websites to look at with links to lots of papers to read! We will no doubt be learning quite a bit during our time here and we are excited to see just how we will grow as a result. Pray that we will take advantage of this time of learning and that we can develop some great friendships with the other missionaries-to-be that are here.
